brutalist shelf mirror

Picture
Picture
This mirror is a variant of our White Shelf Strip Mirror, itself combining two mirror types the Shelf and the Strip. Inspired by brutalist architecture, the frame and shelf sections have been painted with a faux concrete finish. This was sanded between coats to achieve a smooth finish.

The shelf is flush with the mirror at the bottom enabling the whole of any item placed there to be viewed in refection. This also means that the reverse of an object can be seen at the same time as the front - a useful feature for the display of small sculptures and ceramics.
The strips, in a post and lintel configuration, are hand painted with colours from Farrow & Ball. The top strip uses Pidgeon and Downpipe, the left Mole's Breath and the right is De Nimes. The mirror glass is 4mm thick and the frame is backed with plywood.

is fitted with an integral split batten to enable stable, flush hanging on the wall.
