gold quadrant mirror no.2

Picture
Picture
The Quadrant mirrors are an ongoing series of unique pieces inspired by the artist and designer Max Bill (1908 - 1994). Bill was a student at the Bauhaus under Klee and Kandinsky.

Gold Quadrant No.2. is a direct variation on the first gold quadrant mirror. This work features a 4mm gold backed glass panel with polished edges. The mirror is set in a hand tinted solid ash frame with a minimal 5mm face. The green/grey tint, specific to this mirror frame, was achieved by layering coats of dye and tinted wax. The gold mirror is surrounded by four hand painted plywood panels in artist's acrylic.

The composition uses two colours - green and blue. The colours on each panel was hand mixed individually, four blue tones and four greens. This mirror is unique.

The frame has split battens on all four sides for easy wall mounting. It can also be removed and rotated as desired. The format allows the mirror to be displayed in a square or diagonal orientation on the wall. All our Quadrant Mirrors offer a striking and original focal point to a room. These mirrors can also be custom made - use the button below for more information.

This mirror is dated and signed on the reverse and is available to view at our studio.
