This unique mirror was inspired by the plant drawings of the American artist Ellsworth Kelly (1923 – 2015). The frame is handmade in solid black walnut with painted wood inserts.

It has four original pencil drawings in the top section. These drawings are free transcriptions, based on Kelly’s work, on coloured Fabriano acid-free paper.

The stripes on the top and bottom panel are painted by hand using colours from Farrow and Ball.
Vardo and Pelt for the top, with the addition of Yeabridge Green and India Yellow on the base.

Each plant drawing has its own small glazed panel using museum grade glass with green spacers made from 100% cotton rag card. The spacers prevent the glass from touching the paper which ensures the drawings will not be damaged over time.

The mirror is 4mm thick silvered float glass with polished edges. This is feather floated in the central tray section of the walnut frame with a small gap between the mirror and the frame.

The mirror frame is fitted with an integral split batten for secure, flush wall mounting. This mirror is stamped, signed and dated on the reverse.
