commission: N1 mirror
This commission was designed for a study in a Clerkenwell flat. The room is white with dark grey metal framed internal windows and fixtures. A particular feature of this space is a wall with white wooden slats.
We created this mirror to our clients specifications - it is 800 x 1000 mm in size. This tray frame is in pale poplar wood, stained white and lime waxed. We cut10 x 6mm str
ips which surround the floating 4mm mirror with polished edges. The white strips are arranged in a spiral on a graphite base and the interior of the frame is also coated in graphite.
The mirror has integral split battens on all four sides so the mirror can be displayed in either landscape or portrait. The battens are raised slightly so the mirror frame appears to float on the wall.
This commission was created in close consultation with our client. It is in effect a variation on our strip mirrors and is a further example our standard designs being open to customisation.
The mirror is inspired by the work of Donald Judd who used panels with strips in his wall sculptures.
has now been installed in the room it was designed for and we will update this page to include photographs of the mirror in situ soon.
This unique mirror is signed and dated on the reverse. Should you wish to have one made to order based on this design use the button below to get in touch. This mirror can be made in different woods with alternative base and interior colours. It would also work well with painted strips - we would be pleased to discuss your ideas and answer questions.
