white shelf strip mirror

This mirror combines two of our design ideas - the Shelf and the Strip Mirror.

The white shelf is flush with the mirror at the base enabling the whole of any item placed there to be viewed in refection. This also means that the reverse of an object can be seen at the same time as the front - a useful feature for the display of small sculptures and ceramics.
The strips are in a 'post and lintel' configuration and they were hand painted using whites from the Farrow & Ball range: White Tie was used for the top strip, and Wimborne White and Pointing for the left and right strips respectively.

The frame and shelf were painted in layers of white earth pigment paint. This was sanded between coats to achieve a smooth gesso like finish. The mirror glass is 4mm thick. As these are made to order we can also make this design with tinted or antique mirror glass.
This shelf mirror is unique. The mirror frame is backed with 3mm MDF and is fitted with an integral split batten to enable stable, flush wall mounting.

It measures 600 x 600 x 180mm and it weighs 6kg. It is stamped, signed and dated on the reverse. This mirror is not suitable for areas with high condensation.
