rust on beech mirror
This mirror is our first using metal on wood. Here the wood frame is solid oak with walnut corner plugs. The face and rebate of the frame were painted with Charlotte's Locks from the Farrow & Ball range. The orange shows under the steel plates and the rebate is reflected in the mirror.
The steel plates are irregular and they were allowed to rust and were then sealed with matt varnish. Each plate is fixed with a small screw. This mirror is unique and can be wall mounted flush with the integral split batten.
